Welcome to the Village of Red Hook Pollinator Pathway! We are a part of the larger undertaking to create a corridor of adjacent properties—private residences and public spaces—that provide safe habitat for birds, bees, butterflies and other insects.  Our goal is to make the Village of Red Hook one big pollinator pathway with private, commercial and municipal spaces that are pesticide free and host native plants. The Village of Red Hook continues the pollinator pathway near the Hudson River consisting of Hyde Park, Rhinebeck and Hudson making our village a potential source of connectivity to the Atlantic flyway!

The Public Space Initiative (PSI) subcommittee was formed in the Village of Red Hook in 2020 and planted pollinator gardens at the Red Hook Community Center and the historic Elmendorf Inn.  We are working closely with the Village Mayor and Board in the development of Abraham’s Park and to incorporate our pollinating garden goals.

Our community outreach efforts to educate the public about pollinator gardens and sustainable practices include:

  • PSI annual “Hello Spring” event

  • the Historic Elmendorf Inn event

  • the Bard College Martin Luther King Day of Engagement

  • Apple Blossom Day

  • Hardscrabble Music Festival
