We have 6 acres of annually mowed field/old field with 9 unsprayed apple (and 1 pear) trees in the middle. Joe pye, 2 varieties of milkweed, abundant goldenrod (3-4 species) asters (2-3 varieties), other local and invasive plants, Sumac and viburnam on the border. 120 feet of raspberries and 20 feet of blackberries, currants, wild strawberry, elderberry, 1/2 acre of regularly mowed no spray diverse "lawn" and a large flower garden with aster, calendula, butterfly weed, bee balm, cosmos, and zinnea (organic annual seeds). Vegetable garden. Early bulbs. We have experimented with mowing, compost, and introducing grasses.
