Butterfly Garden at Kinetic Pocket Park
131 E Broadway, Granville, Ohio 43023
Ace of Clubs 4-H renovated a small, but highly visible area of the village of Granville's historic downtown into a vibrant butterfly garden and "Pollinator Pocket Park." The flower beds were very overgrown and filled with weeds when a large mural and public art installation featuring butterflies was installed in June 2022. Noting there were no butterfly host plants and very little native vegetation in this pocket park, Ace of Clubs 4-H set out to transform the space into a native plant garden, which would become an anchor of what members hope will become a Pollinator Pathway along Broadway. 4-H'ers removed weeds and most of the overgrown plants and planted a variety of native Ohio flowers and shrubs that support the endangered Monarch and other species of butterflies, insects & pollinators.
