We removed the grass from our front yard to put in a water wise pollinator garden. It's frequented by lots of bees and butterflies. many of the plants are natives and are densely planted to allow for amble use of the space.
Russian sage, lavenders, sedums, thyme, chives, fennel, blazing star, lambs ear, milkweeds, flowering bulbs, feverfew, calamint, catmint, hostas, evergreen shrubs, and rocks and leaf litter.
