We removed invasive mugwart, vines, and barberry shrubs at Breakwater Sailing Center, to fill the beds with native plants for pollinators and birds. I selected several plants to appeal to pollinators during the summer, with seed heads or berries to sustain birds in fall/winter months. Liatris, rudbeckia and echinacea are all easy growing plants with seeds for songbirds. The garden update is in its second season, so I am incorporating plants as the season progresses, to provide blooms from spring through fall. Really happy with how this has transpired and hope to inspire others to incorporate natives in their own gardens. This garden is in town and visible from the farmer's market, among other local gatherings.
