Pollinator Pathway

North Andover

Upcoming Events 3.jpg

Welcome to the North Andover Pollinator Pathway.  The mission of North Andover Pollinators is to promote native plantings and healthy habitats for pollinators throughout our community.  As a group, and individually, we are proud to be listed on the national

Pollinator Pathway. Each of us can make a difference, starting right in our own yards. A patch is all it takes to get started.

Joining the North Andover Pollinators is easy—you can put your garden on the map (in good conscience) by doing the following five things:

  • Plant a variety of native plants, including trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers

  • Avoid use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in favor of safer alternatives

  • Reduce lawn size in favor of native plantings that support a variety of wildlife and pollinators

  • Leave the leaves, seedheads, and stems in the landscape for the benefit of pollinators, birds, and other wildlife

  • Control (and remove when possible) invasive plants

By making these simple shifts, we will improve the connections between the many natural spaces in town, creating a robust ecosystem with a greater diversity of native species.

Town Gardens

Town Hall Pollinator Garden

Our pollinator garden in front of Town Hall was established in May of 2021 in collaboration with the North Andover Garden Club, North Andover Conservation Department staff, as well as staff from various departments at Town Hall. The North Andover Garden Club generously donated funds for the plant material for this garden.

Everything planted in our garden is 100% native to New England and requires very little maintenance. The goal of this garden is not only to beautify the front of Town Hall, but also to educate the general public on the importance of native plants. In the long term, we hope to create more of these pollinator patches in North Andover to bridge the gap between other pollinator gardens in Massachusetts.

We invite your interest and involvement!
