We have removed most of the privit hedge that surrounded the property and are slowly adding native pollinator plants, including trees and herbaceous plants. When we have bare spots in the grassy lawn, we reseed with clover only. Clover isn't native, but it does require less mowing. We only mow the yard around once a month. Some non-native shrubs will remain due to their age and the difficulty of removing them. They also provide shelter for birds.
