This is our third summer in this house - and what a long way it's come! When we moved in in 2023, the yard was like a desolate golf course, with only a few invasive plants (e.g. privet, English Ivy, forsythia). Three years later, Joe Pye Weed, New York Ironweed, Cut Lead Coneflowers, Milkweeds and many others provide food for pollinators, while pawpaws, service berries, mulberries and persimmons feed people. I am gradually working toward eliminating the lawn as the plants continue to grow and spread.

Joe Pye Weed, Swamp Mallow, Hoary Skullcap, New York Ironweed, Serviceberry, Pawpaw, Narrow Leaf and Blunt Mountain Mints, Yarrow, Rattlesnake Master, Yaupon Holly, Mulberry, Cut Leaf Coneflower, Blue Mist Flower, Scarlett Bee Balm, Butterfly Milkweed, Common Milkweed, and many others.
