In general, I try to plant native, bird and bee friendly perennials. I try to always have something new blooming throughout the spring, summer, and fall. A lot of it is visible from the street.
Pollinators who have visited our garden:
Butterflies:
monarch, tiger swallowtail, spicebush swallowtail, spangled fritillary, red-spotted purple, skippers
Bees:
bumble bee, honey bee, carpenter bee, leaf cutter bee (very cool), wool carder bee (even cooler!), sweat bee (tiny & green)
Wasps:
yellow jacket, great black wasp (blue wings), thread waisted wasp (black with gold band).
