Native pollinator garden in Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago consisting of shady front yard area and sunny backyard area. Aim is to attract native bees and to have a demonstration area to inspire my neighbors to think differently about their yards too.
Most exciting moment has been discovering a nesting aggregation of the broad-footed cellophane bee (Colletes latitarsis) in the yard.
Sun Garden: Monarda fistulosa, Allium cernuum, Zizia aurea, Penstemon digitalis, Asclepias incarnata, Pycnanthemum tenuifolium, Verbena hastata, Veronicastrum virginicum, Agastache foeniculum
Shade Garden: Hydrophyllum virginianum, Geranium maculatum, Carex sprengellii, Tiarella cordifolia, Heuchera americana, Packera aurea, Diervilla lonicera, Solidago flexicaulis, Eurybia divaricata
