Pawpaw, winged sumacs, dogwood, mulberry, black cherry, and black walnut trees. Milkweed, purple and grey headed coneflowers, blanket flowers, wild bergamot, blue Vervain, Virginia and narrow leaved mint, rose swamp Mallow.
We have a wooded lot behind our home where I have painstakingly removed many bush honeysuckle. I have planted two pawpaw trees, native sumacs, milkweed, purple coneflower, a dogwood tree, and a variety of other native perennials. Also, clearing the honeysuckle has allowed more existing natives to thrive in spring, such as mayapples, jewelweed, and yellow trout lilly.
I grew most of the native perennials from seed in spring, and planted them all this summer and fall.
