My sister and mom are helping to restore the buffer area around a stream that runs through the property - this is the first major project. Additionally, they are starting to fill in the foundation plantings around the house with natives, and soon hope to control the woodland edges by eradiacting invasive plants that have taken over, and replace them with native alternatives.
Jewel weed, sneeze weed, swamp milkweed, joe pye weed, black eyed susans, red cardinal flower, yarrow, blueberry, swamp rose, carolina rose, golden alexander, hairy beardtongue, various types of asters, rough-leaf goldenrod, pussy willow, wild cherry, various species of ferns, rhododendrons, tulip trees, and many more native tree species.
