There are multiple pollinator gardens across the Rye Country Day School campus. These gardens incorporate many native plant species that support pollinators. Our lawn care is organic and pesticide-free. Embedded in our school’s PreK-12 curriculum are units on flowers, pollinators, and their importance to the environment. Students in 7th grade participate in the Monarch Watch Citizen Science project by raising and releasing tagged Monarch butterflies. Our campus is a certified Monarch Waystation, a certified Schoolyard Habitat, and a US Department of Education Green Ribbon School.
