We're fine with an old-school Cape Cod lawn (weedy, bare spots, etc.). We've reduced lawn size, added a rain barrel, two small raised beds (with plans for more), and are adding new natives annually. Added birdhouse, and bird feeders.
Bayberry, milkweed, coneflower, tickseed, Black-eyed Susan, penstemon, Liatris, Joe Pye Weed, asters, monarda, and wild strawberry groundcover.
