Location: Elevated area behind the school along the western boundary.

Owned/designed: Owned by the Town of Greenwich, designed and installed by the Girl Scouts Troop 50119.

Environmental setting: Disturbed area on the top of a hill in full sun/partial shade.

Highlights: This small section of an area that used to serve as an entrance to an old playground has found a new environmental purpose. Newly planted perennials in the form of plugs have a long way to grow into a dense weed-free stand. The first year has required intensive watering. A weed barrier has been installed and will help to keep the weeding more manageable. Watching the area grow and develop over time will allow us to capture the transformation of highly compacted wasteland into an environmentally valuable pollinator garden.
