Front and back gardens started 9 years ago from lawn. Mixed beds: bulbs, perennials, shrubs. Neighboring trees, changing light conditions and a cold north-facing front with snow lasting into early May have created challenges. Originally mostly sun to part shade, trees gradually blocked most of the light so plants had to be moved around or changed. Then last year the single front tree was taken down by the city and 2 trees in the back were cut down. We now have more light.
