Over 60 native species are planted with more to be added this year. Some of those present include beach plums, goldenrod, aster, beebalm, columbine, and milkweed.

What started as a "no mow" lawn is being transformed into various areas of plants native to the Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens ecosystems, including oak coastal woodlands and sandplains. Rather than formal garden beds, the evolving plantings strive to provide little areas of wilderness in a residential setting. In the warn months, the planted areas are always alive with pollinators and birds, and they are complimented by nearby bird feeding stations and overhanging maple and oak trees.
