My property is on a hillside and provides several different growing conditions -- full sun to full shade, dry and rocky to very moist. This allows me to grow dozens of native species which are adapted to different environments. I have a pocket prairie with big bluestem, switchgrass, beebalm, mountain mints, ny ironweed, and a number of other native plants that grow fairly tall in full sun. I've also got a few"faerie gardens" where I grow a number of ferns and ephemerals, such as ramps, virginia bluebells, mayapples, and jack-in-the-pulpit. In my rain garden, I grow swamp milkweed, cardinal flower, turtleheads, river oats, cranberries, and numerous other water-loving plants.
