The front garden is a pocket prairie with a Bur Oak in the middle and a border of mostly native shrubs. I added native plants along the sunny side of the driveway as an experiment and they have done very well. In collaboration with my neighbor, we have planted the shady side of the drive mostly with prairie seeds and have been delighted to see many of them germinate and thrive.
The back garden has a rain garden and a border with a mix of native and ornamental plants.

Golden Alexander, Foxglove Penstemon, Pale Purple Coneflower, Gray-headed Coneflower, Prairie Dropseed, Prairie Smoke, Switchgrass, Bottlebrush Grass, Stiff Goldenrod, Red Milkweed, Spiderwort, New England Aster, Wild Ginger and more.
