After losing our juniper to drought, we replanted a slope area of about 1600 sq feet with predominantly native plants including palo verde trees (desert museum and Mexican varieties), chupa rosa (red and yellow varieties), various sages, brittle bush, California buckwheat and a few ornamentals. From late March through early June bees including western honey bees and two or three local species forage here. Especially popular are the palo verde and sages.
