With a few thousand square feet of haphazard, barely-HOA-approved, garden plots, this Baywise/Bee City Howard County registered yard contains over 120 straight native species with another several dozen near-natives and nativars. It backs to a 10-acre BGE Transmission Line RoW that was recently designated as an Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) area, providing an island of native ecosystem along that wildlife highway.

Featuring three large River Birches, a Pin Oak, and a Sycamore that came with the property, I've additionally planted Red Buds, Fringetree, Dogwood, Black Tupelo, Serviceberries, Black Cherry, Willow Oak, Winged and Staghorn Sumac, and Bald Cypress in the past 8 years. The perennials and shrubs are too numerous to name, many grown via winter sowing or otherwise stratified and grown in an indoor grow lab.
