Raised beds planted with native species provide dryer sites for species that prefer that, among the wetlands. Natural hedgerows of shade tolerant shrubs and perennials line the forest edges.



Sitka spruce, Grand fir, Port Orford cedar, Red alder, madrone, Shore pine and Dune Willow are the main trees. Small trees are Cascara buckthorn and Vine Maple. Manzanita, Wax myrtle, Twinberry, Oceanspray, Evergreen and Red Huckleberry, Pacific Rhododendron, Serviceberry, Douglas spirea, Coyote bush, Western azalea, Hairy Honeysuckle, Salal, Trailing Blackberry are main shrubs, Sword, Deer and Lady ferns are prevalent. Oregon grape (b. aquifolium aand B. nervosa), Trillium ovatum, Lillium columbiana and Douglas iris are present. Beach strawberry, Prunella vulgarus, Vancouveria hexandra and Viola semperviren are native groundcovers. Many perennials- some are: False Solomon's Seal, Fairy Bells and Pearly Everlasting The native plant nursery holds many native species.
