615 Willow Avenue

Welcome to the Pollinator Pathway Gardens located at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County! We host 8 gardens on a 1-acre site located at 615 Willow Avenue in downtown Ithaca, NY. Our gardens are continually evolving with the assistance of dedicated Master Gardener volunteers, and include: • 4 Season Pollinator Garden • Native Plant Garden • Deer Resistant Shade Garden • Al Wurster Memorial Rock Garden • Vegetable Variety Trial Garden • Drought Tolerant Garden • Understory Garden • Ziegler Garden The gardens were started over 25 years ago and have evolved over time. More recently, the growing awareness and concern about sustainability have led to a focus on the importance of attracting and supporting pollinators, growing food and including more native plants in our landscape. The gardens are utilized during educational classes to teach best practices for growing perennials, shrubs, trees, bulbs and annuals that support native bees and other pollinators; illustrating and encouraging the use of native plants in the home landscape; participating in the state-wide program to evaluate vegetable varieties that best suit a given geographical location; and demonstrating deer resistant plants that thrive in a dry, shady location. While the 4 Season Pollinator Garden is solely dedicated to attracting pollinators, all of the gardens include trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants that support birds, bees, butterflies and other insects in a downtown urban location. The gardens are open to the public daily from dawn to dusk, and we’re included on the Fall Creek Garden Tour on July 14, 2024.
