Just moved in last fall. The back part of the property is a native forest that falls away to a protected wetland. It came with many overgrown shrubs and uncared for weedy mulched areas. We have been tearing out the old things and planting natives and pollinator-friendly plants. This is a work in progress (what garden isn't?).
Trees: oak, beech, hickory, maple and white pine.
Small trees and shrubs: several types of dogwood and viburnums, magnolia.
Ferns, violets, day lilies, Virginia creeper already here.
I have planted tickseed, butterfly weed, goldenrod, bluestar, more daylilies, iris, redbud, deciduous azaleas, Carolina allspice.
