Butterfly Tampa's pollinator garden
4113 Henderson Blvd, Tampa, FL 33629, USA
Butterfly Tampa's pollinator garden was planted April 2024 and opened to visitors August 2024, with Hurricane Debby striking August 5 (4 days after the grand opening), followed by 2 more back to back Hurricanes Helene (cat 4) and Milton (cat 3) that wreaked historical havoic on the Tampa Bay area.
The butterfly garden planted with 90% Florida native plants stood strong and butterflies were flying within 2 days of the last storm. The garden provides, food for both larval and adult butterflies as well as shelter and water.
By planting the native plants we have also created habitat for native bees and roosting areas for our pollinators. We had 4 species of nesting birds in the first year of planting with several species of birds now visiting a small garden in an urban setting.
