Little River Nature Preserve

The Little River Nature Preserve is a 17 acre parcel that sits accross the street from the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Department. The preserve is mostly a mature hardwood forest with some boggy areas. The Little River runs through the property. There are several hiking trails including some that are wheelchair accessible.
Local volunteers have planted several hundred native perennial flowers (mostly home grown) and shrubs that bloom at various times to keep the pollinators engaged through out the growing season.
Cardinal Flowers, Joe Pye Weed, Culver's Root, Anise Hyssop, Columbines, New England Asters, Butterfly weed, Cone Flowers, Golden Rod, Foam Flowers and more.
Shrubs include: Button Bush, Native Holly, Chokeberry, Summer Sweet Clethra, Common Witch Hazel, Appalachian Serviceberry, Spice Bush and more
Trees Include: American Elm, Black Cherry, White Oak, Sugar Maple, Sassafras, Black Birch and more
