Sawmill Lane Pollinator Pathway

This restoration project was funded by a Massachusetts Community Biodiversity Grant. Originally this town-owned parcel was dense with Japanese Knotweed & Asian Bittersweet. With generous funding from the grant program, the town was able to transform this parcel into what we know refer to as the "Sawmill Lane Pollinator Pathway". This path connects a frequently walked pedestrian bridge to a town-owned park, and has been planted with native plants, shrubs, and wildflowers to bring nature back to the banks of the adjacent Mother Brook. We also received funding to provide materials for an Eagle Scout to construct a "Native Seed Library", where residents can share seeds and bring natives into their own backyard. The project was completed in the summer of 2026.
