Windermere is very wet! Garden (& neighbours) has had land drains installed because lots of small rivulets lead to the steam at the end of the garden.
Lots of plants don't return in Spring due to excessive damp or frost.
Not sure if native, but these do well: Roses, weeping willow, corkscrew willow, hydrangeas, fuschia, hosta, oregano.
