Workman Elementary- With strong support from the PTO and the administration, Creating Habitats for Pollinators (CHP) has planted and maintained 6 areas surrounding the school since 2021. One of the areas was destroyed by vandals, but the other 5 areas have been thriving.

Since 2021, several plants and seed mixes have been used. Initially, over 70 milkweed plugs were planted; subsequently, custom native seed mixes have been used over the following years as new areas were added. Typically, the mixes have over 50 varietals. 75% of the seed mix are native perennials/biennials. 25% are annuals. We use annuals as a cover crop while the natives are getting established.
