Easttown Township is a primarily residential township with small businesses and restaurants located approximately 25 miles from Philadelphia. Route 30 passes through the northwest section of the Township and is a major East West corridor. The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) has planted native plant rain gardens, pollinator gardens, and downspout planters along Route 30 and elsewhere in the Township.  The EAC has a native street tree planting program in the village of Berwyn, a portion of the Township along Rte. 30.  The EAC encourages residents to become involved in these activities through workshops and outreach to other organizations, schools, and individuals. The EAC worked with the GeoGraphics lab at Penn State to develop a map of environmental projects in the Township that can be displayed at community events and on the township website to educate residents about EAC activities and to encourage them to incorporate these concepts in their landscapes.

The EAC is collaborating with the Chester County Planning Commission Keep Chester County Beautiful initiative to plant more pollinator pathway gardens in the Township and encourage the development of Pollinator Pathways in other Chester County communities, especially those along the Route 30 corridor. Our ultimate goal is to jumpstart the development of a Pollinator Pathway the entire length of Rt 30 from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
