Village and Wilderness is accepting applications for the 2026 Incubator Grant, which provides early-stage funding, practical guidance, and peer support to help launch new, community-based microhabitat programs. These are multi-site initiatives led by local nonprofits or public agencies that work across neighborhoods or towns to deliver lasting ecological impact. They transform everyday spaces like yards, school grounds, agricultural verges, and streetsides into “microhabitats” that support biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Selected organizations receive a Planning Award to develop a strategic plan for a new microhabitat program, with the opportunity to advance to a Startup Award. This second phase supports implementation and includes participation in the Practitioners Circle, a peer community of practice.

Planning Award application deadline: November 30, 2026 (11:59pm ET)
